Whilst Structures-Made-Easy have our head office in West London, we have engineers who are familiar with most areas of London and the Home Counties, both historically and technically.

We have worked in most areas of London and the Home Counties in some form over the years and will bring that experience to our analysis of your home or property.  

We have detailed experience in a wide variety of buildings of all ages and types, from perhaps a Tudor farmhouse in Essex to a modern day office building in central London and most things in between.  For us, having this familiarity with such a wide range of building types and their historic construction means we effectively have local expertise.  We will recognise the construction type or structural elements of your home from other properties in the local area or perhaps from other areas where properties built in a similar period.  We also have a large database of detailed ground conditions for all areas of London and the Home Counties.  This tells us the type of ground providing the support to your foundations, which will help us develop an informed, rounded appraisal of your situation.   

In addition to the technical background described above, our familiarity with the historic and social background of the areas and regions of London and the Home Counties will help inform our analysis of your home or property.  This might include a familiarity with perhaps historic ground workings or flooding in your area.  Alternatively, our knowledge of your area’s previous social or industrial heritage helps to understand historic changes that may be characteristic of buildings in your area.

We will combine all these elements during our visit to your property.  Whilst inspecting your home or property to gather information on your principal cause for concern, we will use our familiarity with your type of building to direct us to look for issues or shortcomings that often arise and may be affecting you.  We will also inspect the surroundings and adjacent buildings then add this to our historic knowledge of your area.  Our report will reflect this experience to give informed, expert advice.

An example of this could be a situation where cracking has occurred in your property.  We will have knowledge of the ground conditions and their potential influence on your building, then experience of how your type of property usually reacts to these conditions.  This will help us determine whether your cracking is a structural issue or hopefully simply some local wear and tear.
