Domestic conversion with single-story rear extension. The scheme involved internal remodelling with the removal of load bearing walls as well as an extension to create an open plan layout.

Details

Structures Made Easy Ltd was approached by client to design both sub and super structures of the proposed project. The ground floor was extended and supported by traditional strip foundations. At the lower ground floor the internal walls were re-configured and chimney breasts were removed to create more space and an open plan layout. A ‘box frame’ steel structure and steel beams installed under load bearing walls ensured the building’s structural integrity was maintained. The flat roof was constructed from traditional timber and featured a large skylight.
