Details
Structures Made Easy Ltd. was appointed to design both sub and super structures of the proposed project. The project involved both front and rear extensions at the lower and upper ground floor levels to increase the building’s footprint. External works were undertaken at the rear of the building with the design and construction of retaining walls to create a split level deck and garden. New foundations to both party walls were installed by underpinning part of the length of the boundary walls. New retaining walls were also constructed at the front of the building to support the new front lightwell. Steel box frames were introduced to support the walls above the lower levels and keep the reaction loads away from the neighbouring properties. Throughout the upper floors new structural support in the form of timber and steel beams were added to allow the rearrangement of the internal spaces. The client also appointed Structures Made Easy Ltd to undertake all the associated party wall matters including the issuing of the party wall notices to the adjoining properties. On this project all the temporary works designs were undertaken in house to assist the contractor on site whilst he undertook the structural works.
