Details
Structures Made Easy Ltd. was appointed by the architect to be the structural engineers of the proposed project; designing both sub and super structures. The existing building had already been converted, which added additional complexity to the project. Extensive investigation was carried out to assess the existing structure of the building and how best to integrate the new proposed layout. Steel beams were hidden within existing concrete floors and a substantial steel frame was inserted at the back of the main house to create a large span rear opening. Due to the presence of trees, some areas of strip foundation needed to be deeper than 1m to give the building the necessary stability.
