Details
Structures Made Easy Ltd. was approached by the architect to design both sub and super structures of the proposed building. The ground floor was extended and supported by a ‘box frame’ steel structure and steel beams under load bearing walls to add additional space and achieve an open plan layout. The attic was converted using traditional steel and timber to construct the floor, shell of the dormer, roof and outrigger. The ground floor benefited from an extension and removal of some existing load bearing walls in order to create a larger open space. As such, steel beams and masonry piers were used. A steel box frame was inserted above the substantial side wall opening.
