Brief and project type
Converting timber frame ground floor structure with rear extension
Timber, steel, concrete
The scheme involved converting the existing timber framed property and adding additional space with open plan layout. Structures Made Easy Ltd. was approached by client architect to design both sub and super structure of the proposed structure.
Ground floor benefited of open plan layout and extension. Opening under main original house was achieved by inserting ‘box frame’ steel structure. The foundations bridged over public sewer pipe and combined with traditional strip foundations under newly constructed walls. Timber roof and catnic lintels over proposed openings were introduced.
