48 Lyndhurst Grove, Camberwell, London
Brief and project type
Full refurbishment project to a private family dwelling. Project consisted of converting the existing attic with rear dormer addition, removing internal load bearing walls and extending the property at the ground floor.
Concrete, masonry, steel, timber
The scheme involved converting the old Victorian property and adding additional space with open plan layout. Structures Made Easy Ltd. was approached by client architect to design both sub and super structure of the proposed building.
Ground floor benefited of open plan layout and extension that was achieved by inserting ‘box frame’ steel structure and steel beams under main load bearing walls of the house. A goal post frame was inserted above the substantial rear extension opening which contained the bi-fold doors.
The attic was converted by using traditional steel and timber to construct the floor and the shell of the dormer, roof and outrigger.
